Sword in the Stone

"SYSTEM 2000" introduced in early 1999 is the latest in a continuing line of revisions to incorporate the latest technology into the system.

A System will normally consist of up to six, two player position operator consoles, controlling up to twelve radio controlled models.

The standard consoles are moulded in White G.R.P. (fibreglass) and consist of two player positions each side of a central pedestal, housing the coin mechanism / door assembly.  The ‘T’ shaped top is fixed to a Black G.R.P. base unit which houses the pedal assemblies for the proportional speed models and single central base for other systems.  In addition all base units have a separate cash box compartment with locking door.

  A. Logic Module (only one per system, fitted in console 1\2 ).
  B. Central Operator Module.
  C. Opto Module.  Fitted to steering wheel / gearshift assembly.
  D. Game On red/green LED. Fitted to steering wheel / gearshift assembly.
  E. De-couple button (only fitted to truck systems).
  G. Throttle Pedal assembly (fitted to systems with proportional speed control).
  H. Coin Counter Module (fitted to rear of coin mech. door).
  J. Games waiting LED display (fitted to coin mech. door).
  K. Coin mech.
  L. Power socket (fitted to panel at rear of  console 1/2).
  M. Consoles interconnect socket (fitted to panel at rear of console).

Each console offers the following controls for each player position.  A steering / gearshift assembly which bolts to the console, each is connected to a central Operator Module (B) via a 15 core ribbon cable assembly.

The two coin mechanisms (K) refer to electronic validators mounted in the door which offer multi coin or token play facility for each position.  They are connected to the Coin Counter Module (H) and in turn to the Central Operator Module (B) via a 10 core ribbon cable assembly. (Card or Note validators are also available)

In addition, systems supplied with proportional speed controls have a Pedal Assembly, (G) mounted in the base.  This is connected to the Opto Module (C) via a 5 core cable with 5 pin din plug and socket (a loop plug is fitted to the Opto Module where Pedal Assemblies are not used). Truck systems have de-couple buttons (E) to unhitch the trailers, these are mounted off centre of the console, and are connected to the Opto Module (C) via a 5 core cable fitted with a 5 pin ‘Domino’ din plug.

All Central Operator Modules are identical with the exception of console 1\2. This also contains the system Logic Module (A) and timer.  This timer controls the timed plays for all player positions in the system, and can be adjusted by the 9 position rotary switch mounted on the front of the module.  Fully anti-clockwise gives the shortest play of 40 seconds, rotating the switch clockwise increases the play duration in steps of 20 seconds up to a maximum of 3 minutes 40 seconds.

The total coins put through the coin mechanisms are recorded on a non-resetable counter in the Coin Counter Module (H).  N.B. This unit should not be tampered with as total system failure can result.

Each console is connected to the system via a 3 meter long (longer length can be specified) 25 way cable.  These connections are via 19 way ring lock male connectors.  The mating plugs and sockets are found behind the second player position on each console.  Consoles number from left to right.

SYSTEM ELECTRICAL POWER REQUIREMENTS
The system requires two mains supply sockets (maximum load 13 Amps), one for the system and one for the battery charger.

SYSTEM POWER SUPPLY
The system power supply provides 15 volts DC for the operation of the consoles. A neon lamp indicates mains supply is available, and an LED signifies 15 volts are available to the system. N.B. Short circuit protection of the equipment is provided and the power supply ‘folds over’ and will reset only when the fault is removed and the power supply unplugged and mains supply reapplied.

The power supply is normally situated in console 1/2, but may be located remotely and connected to the consoles using a 2 core PVC covered cable.

BATTERY CHARGER
The Battery Charger is supplied as one unit, but each connection is to a separate Charger circuit.  Designed to individually sense the state of charge of each battery and recharge as required.

When the battery is first plugged in, the indicator LED will light red.  In this state the battery is being charged at approximately 1.5 Amps.  The circuit monitors the terminal voltage and when this reaches 13.66 volts reduces the charge current to 50 milliamps and changes the LED from red to green. The battery is now charged but can be left in this ‘trickle charge’ state indefinitely.
N.B. If the charger is switched off, when switched back on again the LED's will show red for a short time until the charger has established the state of charge.

BATTERY
Each model is supplied with a maintenance free 12 volt, sealed lead acid battery. The only care to taken is to ensure that the battery is unplugged from the model when not in use, although the model may not be moving the receiver is still drawing current and can discharge the battery totally.

CONTROL MODULE
Each model has a control module that contains the receiver and motor drive PCB.  The battery power lead is terminated in a 5 pin din socket, no on/off switch is provided and when not in use the battery must be physically disconnected.  The motor drive lead is terminated in a 7 pin din plug. All units are universal.  The model number is selected with a 12 position rotary switch, position 1 is active with the switch in the fully anticlockwise position.

SPARES
A comprehensive spares kit included with the system covers most eventualities.  We operate a same day despatch system of replacement parts requested before 6.30 p.m. (local time) with delivery within two days in the UK, and soon thereafter for foreign customers.
